Our client was on the job, performing custom work on a prototype speed boat. The marina where the boat was docked was undergoing improvements, including the removal of concrete structures. A contractor’s employee operating a back hoe was using a jackhammer attachment to bust up the concrete. The force caused a stairway leading to a finger pier to collapse at the same time our client was using it to get to the prototype speed boat. He suffered injuries to his knee that required surgery to repair his ACL. The injuries also included RSD/CRPS (reflex sympathetic dystrophy/complex regional pain syndrome), a neurological condition that can include heightened pain, dysfunction, and is resistant to treatment and cure.
